Tree Campaign (City of Arvada)



Faced with an aging tree canopy and the arrival of the invasive species emerald ash borer, the City of Arvada needed to raise awareness of the importance of trees to the community. I worked with the communications and engagement team to develop a multi-phased tree-awareness campaign, beginning with a tree planting and community gathering.
The kick-off of the campaign included a livestream event that was also broadcast on the local access channel.
Responding to COVID-19 (City of Arvada)

The COVID-19 pandemic has posed unprecedented challenges to our community and communications team. From our proactive approach to public communication at the very beginning of the pandemic and a focus on recovery, to an ongoing community support and mobilization campaign. Internal communications was also critical to maintaining an informed and engaged city team.
Under my leadership, the team produced a variety of web content (example), a community engagement campaign, numerous video discussions to inform the community (example), and much more. In this case study, I discuss these efforts in more detail.
Profiles in Public Service (City of Arvada)



At Arvada, I worked with our video team to develop an ongoing television series, called Profiles in Public Service, which highlights members of the city team who have unique perspectives on working to support our community, and support community priorities, over a long period of time. Examples include discussions with former elected officials, long-serving public works leaders, and a housing expert.
The series helps humanize our services to the community while inspiring current members of the team.
